Alexa Chung, Jemima Khan and Geri Halliwell are among countless celebs using Twitter to lament their lack of sleep.

While Chronic Insomnia is relatively unusual, most of us will experience difficulty sleeping at some stage.

There are many factors which contribute to poor sleep: doing too much; stress/anxiety; relationship difficulties; depression; poor diet; alcohol/substance misuse.

Recent research shows that our obsession with fast-updating sites such as Facebook and Twitter is a major contributor to poor sleep.  Our urge to check and update keeps us stimulated when we should be winding down and the blue light emitted from electronic screens suppresses the sleep-inducing brain chemical melatonin.

The good news is that by making some changes to our sleeping environment; to our behaviour and to our thinking we can improve our sleep.  Check out our CBT Self-Help Blog for some tips on how to break the frustrating and exhausting cycle of disturbed sleep.
