While a lot of attention is paid to what we eat and how much we eat, we tend to neglect how we eat.  Often grabbing something on the go, eating at our desks or while driving, we tend to approach eating as a task – to be completed quickly and efficiently rather than an experience to be enjoyed.

SLOW DOWN.  Chewing food deliberately and slowly allows us to notice and appreciate flavours and textures, by paying attention to how we are eating we are more likely to listen to our body and hear our tummy when it says ‘enough’, this discourages over-eating.  Eating consciously enhances nutrient absorption and allows us to get more goodness and energy from our food.

The Google Campus in California has introduced monthly ‘Mindful Eating Meetings’ for employees with the aim of restoring busy, tired minds and ultimately increasing employee satisfaction and subsequently productivity.
